UCCI-Enterprise Cayman Digital Skills Certificate Programme

 

The UCCI-Enterprise Cayman Digital Skills Certificate Programme is strategically designed to help Caymanians become workforce-ready while also helping current professionals advance to the next level in their careers. Participants will benefit from a range of Cisco-certified courses, delivered online with the support of experienced instructors. This certificate offers nine transferable credits that can be applied toward the Computer Science degree programme at UCCI for further study.

    Practice networking, IoT, and cybersecurity skills virtually.
  • NDG Linux Unhatched, self-paced
    Wade into the shallow end of Linux, the back-end operating system used by global titans such as Facebook, Google, and more.
  • Introduction to IoT, self-paced
    Learn how IoT is changing the world and the IoT skills you will need to land a well-paying job. 
  • Cybersecurity Essentials, self-paced
    Develop an understanding of cybercrime, security principles, technologies, and procedures used to defend networks.
  • Get Connected, self-paced
    A beginner computer skills course. Introduces computer basics, Internet navigation & simple networking. 

  • AI For Everyone, self-paced
    A beginner Artificial Intelligence course. Introduces AI basics, machine learning & data science.

Who can register for the certificate programme?

The UCCI-Enterprise Cayman Digital Skills Certificate Programme welcomes all individuals of 18+ to take part and register! This includes adults looking for a career change, IT professionals seeking certifications or growth and development, and university/college learners.

Is there a programme fee?

The certificate programme has a fee of CI $880. 

Are the courses in-person or online?

The program is designed to be both flexible and self-paced, allowing participants to learn at their own speed while receiving the guidance they need to succeed.

How can participants access support?

The programme will provide online instructors/TAs to be available for additional support for learners (office hours). UCCI can coordinate with learners to facilitate the formation of study groups to enhance learning through discussions and collaborative work. The instructors will highlight the appropriate certification exams where applicable to validate your skills and knowledge.

Will I need a specific platform for the self-paced courses?

Most classes do not need any special software, and simply a web browser. However, the Packet Tracer course uses a special application, which can be downloaded for free through the Cisco Networking Academy portal.

Is there a deadline to complete the self-paced courses?

The programme consists of approximately 160 hours of training delivered over 6 months (approximately 10 hours/week).  

Will I be provided a certificate upon completion of a course?

Yes, Cisco Networking Academy issues a digital badge upon successful completion of each course that is completed. The Cisco Digital Badge is verifiable via a partnership with Credly, an independent credentials company used by Fortune 500 companies like Oracle, IBM, Dell, and Cisco. In addition to each of the certifications or digital badges provided through completion of each of the courses above, learners will receive a UCCI-Enterprise Cayman Certification on completion of the seven courses. Completion of this certificate will translate to nine transferable credits that can be applied toward the Computer Science degree programme at UCCI for further study.

What types of careers do the Cisco courses help candidates prepare for? 

Cisco courses prepare candidates for various IT careers - including network administration, security, data center management, and more. Certifications like CCNA, CCNP, and CCIE cater to different expertise levels and roles within the industry, providing globally recognised credentials.
