The Cayman Islands Computer Science Society (CICSS) Hackathon is a dynamic, inclusive gathering that welcomes participants of all technical backgrounds to tackle challenges and develop meaningful community solutions through innovative technology. The event offers participants the chance to brainstorm, collaborate, create, and showcase creative solutions that make a tangible difference in our community.

Hackathon Highlights
  • Kick-off & Team Formation
The event begins with an introduction to the hackathon process. Participants will form teams, meet mentors, and receive guidance on using no-code/low-code tools like make.com, Bubble.io, and others to help bring fresh ideas to life.
  • Project Development
Teams will collaborate to create innovative solutions for Cayman’s needs. Mentors will be available throughout the event to provide support, answer questions, and guide participants through the development process.
  • Project Submission on Devpost
Teams will present their work by uploading a video walkthrough (via YouTube) that explains their solution, its functionality, and its impact and registering their project on Devpost, the central platform for submissions and competition judging. Submissions must include the video link, a project description, and any supporting materials.
  • Judging & Prizes
Projects will be judged based on their impact, creativity, feasibility, and benefit to the Cayman Islands. Prizes will be awarded to standout teams during the awards ceremony at the end of the day.

Pre-Event Tech Support Sessions

To ensure all participants feel confident contributing, a series of interactive tech sessions will be held in advance of the hackathon. Pre workshops, led by experienced facilitators, will introduce no-code and low-code tools, empowering participants of all skill levels to bring their ideas to life. Visit the CyberSandbox webpage to register for individual pre-event sessions.

Prerequisites

While most sessions are optional, the Hackathon Starter Pack I session is mandatory (Wednesday, 16 April 2025). This is the day that we'll form teams. You don’t need to find your own group in advance — teams will be assigned, ensuring everyone has a chance to contribute. Whether you're an experienced coder or a complete beginner, all you need is the interest and enthusiasm to participate!
