Join us for a panel discussion with the Cayman Island Artificial Intelligence Society (CIAIS). Panelists will discuss the implications of AI in today's society.

What can businesses and individuals do to prepare for the influx of AI tech? How does AI positively and negatively impact the societies we live in today? What does the future of AI look like and what might this mean for the Cayman Islands? We invite you to come and discuss.

  • Ian Gilmour, Panelist 
    Ian Gilmour is the Chair of AI Forum's Advisory Board, an independent research, news and services firm. Ian is also founder of AI GEN, a web3 AI community for Gen Z and Gen A, specialising in the empowerment of High School and University students. AI GEN's roadmap positions students as future leaders in AI innovation. Ian started his career in Treasury and Risk Management with HSBC, Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered. He went on to work in financial services consulting with PwC and IBM. By partnering with Cayman Enterprise City, and affiliates, AI Forum and AI GEN is helping promote Cayman Enterprise City as an international AI Hub. By leveraging Cayman’s world class human and financial capital, AI firms will deliver Artificial Intelligence that benefits society.

  • LeeAnn Janissen, Panelist 
    LeeAnn Janissen has 30 years experience with quantitative research in the capital markets.  Previous activities include modeling complex derivatives in the credit, interest rate and equity markets as well as designing and developing micro-systems solutions for trading.  She is also a Lean Six Sigma Master black belt with experience in leading process improvement teams and initiatives.  LeeAnn received her Ph.D in Particle Physics, holds a Masters of Business Administration, and is a Chartered Investment Manager.  Dr. Janissen is Head of Research at East Coast Asset Management SEZC, where she develops systematic trading strategies. LeeAnn is an enthusiastic early adopter of new technologies, and has a keen interest in unleashing the potential that new technical solutions can bring to improving systems and outcomes.

  • Julian Morris, Moderator 
    Julian Morris is a Cayman-based economist with 30 years’ experience working with think tanks, businesses, and governments. A member of the Steering Committee of CIAIS, he is a Senior Scholar at the International Center for Law and Economics, a Senior Fellow at Reason Foundation, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and sits on the boards of several non-profits and a CEC company. Julian previously ran think tanks in the US and UK, taught economics at two universities, was a member of the editorial board of the Cayman Financial Review, and is the author of over 100 scholarly articles and policy papers, including a study on Cayman’s role as a facilitator economic growth and good governance.

  • Kendra Okonski, Panelist 
    Kendra Okonski is the founder of 345 Robotics, an extracurricular robotics program for kids in the Cayman Islands, utilizing VexIQ educational curriculum and competition platform, facilitated by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation.
